PAFC was established in 1996 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It was initially known as the Philippine Independence Day Committee and was composed of members of Filipino-American associations in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia who organized the Philippine Independence Day programs. In its 18 years of existence, PAFC has grown and expanded many programs, including granting awards to deserving organizations, contributing to disaster relief, staging the Philippine Festival and participating in the Asian Festival, honoring outstanding Filipino-Americans, and coordinating programs for youth and senior citizens. PAFC is a volunteer-run organization.
